Meet Our Clients

...Looking for a solution to my emotional eating problems, I did an internet search and found Dr. Porcello’s website. Weeks later I finally got the courage to call for a free consultation. Our 20 minute consultation lasted 45 minutes, and by the end of the conversation I knew I had found someone who understood my life long struggles with food. We began our weekly telephone sessions right away.

From the very first session, I was amazed at how much better I felt and was very hopeful that I would find the answers to this puzzle of emotional eating that had been evading me for so long. With every session, more insight was revealed to me. Eventually, I began to see that I could change the patterns from my past and create new outcomes in my life.

This has been one of the most empowering experiences of my life. I cannot believe that I am the same person. I am happier, healthier and more confident. My relationships with family and friends have improved. I am no longer running away from my past and I feel much more optimistic about my future. Dr. Porcello helped me to see that the past is just that, “the past”. I am now free to create the future of my choosing, not bound to relive my previous experiences over and over again.

I will be forever grateful for Dr. Porcello’s wit, wisdom and insight. My life decisions and choices that I make are now based on conscious adult awareness and rationality, not stemming from childhood fears and patterns. I would highly recommend her services to anyone who is struggling with emotional eating and wants to have the opportunity to be free from the bondage this condition creates.  ~  Bonnie R

...In the past year, I've lost over 85 pounds working with Dr. Porcello and the Solutions nutritionist. I never thought that I could gain control over my bingeing, but I have. My hunger felt like a silent prison and with Solutions I learned to listen to what that inner hunger was about and learned not to be terrified of these feelings. For me, it was about feeling abandoned. Once I "got it" I was able to use the skills I learned in the program to stop stuffing down the feelings and start living again. ~ Amy K.

...I have been to three different treatment programs for my bingeing and purging problem and you're the first person that simplified the issues, allowing me to understand what was causing these cycles. When I'm alone at night, I no longer binge or feel the compulsion to purge. And the feeling that food controls me has abated. I've heard about inner peace, and I'm on my way to finding it. ~ Joanna J.

...I came to Solutions when I found out I was diabetic. The day I was diagnosed, I went out and binged all day. I knew that this behavior was destructive and that, if I wanted to live longer and be healthier, I would need help in understanding and controlling my bingeing. My endocrinologist recommended Solutions. It wasn't just that my sugars were out of whack, my emotions were out of control, too. I was so angry I had diabetes, I was eating myself to death. I felt crazy. Although my endocrinologist has helped me learn control my diabetes, it's Recovery Is Sweet, the special diabetes group at Solutions, that's taught me that boundaries and limits don't have to feel depriving, and it's helped me with managing my emotions. Eating through my emotions didn't help my diabetes but Recovery Is Sweet has. ~ James P.

...I had bariatric surgery last year and lost over 100 lbs but was still obsessing about how flabby and ugly my body looked. I thought that losing so much weight would solve my problems and that I'd finally be happy. Sadly, I found myself becoming more depressed. Joining the After the Weight Loss group has taught me that my negative body image had little to do with how much weight I lost, and more to do with my shame and low self esteem. Learning to let go of shame has freed me to start appreciating and accepting myself in whatever body I have. ~ Eileen C.

...I hesitated getting help for my problems because I didn't want to spend "so much" money on therapy. But the time came when I had no choice as my life was spinning out of control. When Dr. Porcello had me add up my food bills for a week, I realized it was costing me more for food than my weekly therapy! I never knew how destructive it was to spend so much money on food and how opposed I was to spending money to feel better about myself. Finding Solutions has not only been an investment in my well-being, it has brought hope and happiness back into my life. Oh, and by the way, I've lost 122 lbs! I feel like I went to college for a master's degree in loving myself! I AM ok! ~ Regina L.

...It was around our daughter's 14th birthday when my husband and I began to notice that she was developing some odd eating rituals. She would only eat certain low calorie foods with no fat, and said she was full after eating miniscule amounts at dinner. Her weight began to drop and she was exercising hours and hours a day. After meeting with the team at Solutions, we learned our daughter had anorexia. Because we caught it early, we're now on our way to getting her, and us, the help we need to understand and cope with this problem. ~ Myra C.

...For so so many years I felt too fat to go in the pool with my family. Last year, my 4 year old made me promise that I would go swimming with her this summer. I said ok, praying that she would forget over the course of the year.

Because of you, I was able to keep that promise to my daughter this summer. For the first time, the kids and I went swimming! It was one of the best feelings to see how happy my children were to have a mom to bounce around with in the water. In the past, I sat out summers by the pool. With your help I'm now IN the pool and I can't believe how free I feel. ~ Donna
